Enda flere rekorder fra Katy Perry

California Gurls ble i forrige uke spilt mer på radio i USA enn noen annen artist i amerikanske Billboard's 17 årige historie.

Katy Perry fortsetter å sprenge grenser med sin nye single 'California Gurls'. I forrige uke kunne vi meddele at låten hadde klatret til topps på radiolisten i USA og Europa på kun 6 uker, samt at den hadde solgt til gull i Norge, og ligger på en sterk 7. plass på den norske radiolisten.

Nå viser det seg at forrige uke markerte enda en milepæl for Katy Perry; California Gurls ble spilt flere ganger på amerikansk radio enn noen annen artist i Billboard's 17 år lange historie. Som om det ikke var nok, så debuterte singlen på 1. plass på den britiske singlelisten.

'California Gurls' Is Undeniable: Song Sets Pop Songs Record

A week after reaching the chart's summit, Katy Perry's "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg, rewrites the mark for most weekly plays in the 17-year history of Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart.

"California Gurls" logged 11,816 plays among the survey's 132 panelists, an average of 90 plays per station, in the chart's tracking week of June 21-27, according to Nielsen BDS. The song passes the 11,224 plays tallied by previous record-holder Ke$ha's "TiK ToK" on the chart dated Feb. 6, 2010.

Up 1,327 plays (13%), "California Gurls" claims the Pop Songs chart's Greatest Gainer award for a fifth time in its seven chart weeks.

"California Gurls" continues its multi-format march. The song pushes 3-2 on Adult Pop Songs, debuts at No. 26 on Adult Contemporary and bounds 40-29 on Dance/Club Play Songs.
The song has spent the last three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The track previews Perry's album "Teenage Dream," due Aug. 30.
